What to expect

The first appointment is an opportunity to talk through what’s been happening, explore what you would like to change, and clarify what support might be most helpful.

From there, sessions may focus on understanding patterns, building practical coping strategies, and developing healthier ways of responding to thoughts, emotions and relationships.

Ellen’s approach is warm, collaborative and evidence-based, with therapy tailored to each individual.

Therapeutic approaches

Ellen draws on a range of evidence-based therapies depending on your needs and goals. These may include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

If you’re unsure which approach is right for you, this can be discussed in the first session.
